ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Ted Taormina is the Founder of Taormina Motorsports℠. 

In 1966, Taormina was born into a big Italian American family in Northern California and raised on adrenaline with a passion for fast cars. Throughout childhood he raced go carts and learned to love the feel of acceleration from cars, anything with an engine and wheels. 

In 1988, Taormina’s extensive knowledge and experience landed him working as a Specialist for Lamborghini and Ferrari and he was trained with great mentorship in exotic car service and restoration by Al Burtoni, of the famed Milano Imports, in Gilroy, California (USA's very first Lamborghini dealership in 1968). Additionally, Jim Feuling of Feuling Motors would contract Ted to hustle together projects for the Bonneville Salt Flats reaching speeds of over 300 miles per hour and the W3 Harley Davidson Engine Project. 

Growing up, it was always Ted’s childhood dream to own his own Shelby Cobra. This dream led him right into his career path. Following in the footsteps of his friend and mentor, Carroll Shelby, Ted Taormina dedicated his craft to reviving the thrill of driving. With a passion for commanding the Shelby Cobra, Taormina has built over 85 replicas with the Taormina Motor SportsSM Team and built the fastest continuation replica Super performance Shelby MkIII Cobra in the world, clocking in at 201.1 MPH on the 1.5 mile Mojave Air and Space Port runway, breaking the 50 year old record of 198 miles per hour, that had been set at Daytona International Speedway by Dick Smith in a Shelby 427S/SC. Taormina now holds the World Speed Record for a Cobra set at the 2021 Sun Valley Tour De Force hitting 223.21 in a 2 mile closed off highway at 6700 feet above sea level.

HISTORY

Ted Taormina founded his own Taormina Motorsports℠ in December 2010.

Ted’s extensive knowledge and experience as a Lamborghini and Ferrari specialist goes back to 1988. He was trained with great mentorship in exotic car service and restoration by Al Burtoni, of the famed Milano Imports, in Gilroy, California (USA's very first Lamborghini dealership in 1968). Additionally, Jim Feuling of Feuling Motors would contract Ted to hustle together projects for the Bonneville Salt Flats reaching speeds of over 300 miles per hour and the W3 Harley Davidson Engine Project.

Ted has a history of also racing some of the cars he’s built over the years. He used to race Lamborghini Jotas he had worked on and prepared in official races in Nevada as well as at the Bonneville Salt Flats in the 1980’s. 2017 he raced his “Italian Job” Shelby Cobra replica to overtake a 50 year old world record-beating speed of 201.1 mph at the Mojave Magnum.
